Doc Palmer Joins People and Processes as a Partner


Jacksonville, Florida - Richard D. Palmer, PE, MBA, better known as Doc Palmer, author of the distinguished Maintenance Planning and Scheduling Handbook, joins People and Processes, Inc. as a partner to expand his participation in educating, leading, and consulting with companies on the practical implementation of successful Maintenance Planning and Scheduling (MPS) programs.

Doc will take the lead on Maintenance Planning and Scheduling (MPS) courses delivered by People and Processes (globally and at the RAMS Center), and will continue to apply his expertise working with companies around the world to optimize their MPS initiatives and programs. Doc has more than 23 years of industrial experience with 17 of those years directly in a maintenance role. He also has a master’s degree in business from the University of North Florida and a degree in engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. In addition, he holds a professional engineering license in the State of Florida. He is also a Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional.

Doc’s maintenance background with a technical and business education gives him a unique perspective on the maintenance environment and challenges. As an actual practitioner within a company’s maintenance organization, he recognized and developed the necessary principles, and then led the grassroots’ establishment of a successful planning program.

University of North Florida Division of Continuing Education & People and Processes, Inc. Launch the RAMS Center to Address Training and Skills Development in Industry


Jacksonville, Florida June 18, 2009 – Robert Wood, Dean of Continuing Education at UNF, and Jeff Shiver, President of People and Processes, Inc. announce a partnership to bring professional training, coaching, and mentoring dedicated to maintenance, reliability, and operations to regional businesses and organizations. The new RAMS Center will operate under the umbrella of the Division of Continuing Education at UNF in Jacksonville, Florida providing short courses, on-site consulting services, and technical information commencing June 2009.

The RAMS Center, which is an acronym for Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Sustainability will provide training and services focused on promoting industry recognized Best Practices to achieve success in these key areas. Robert Wood states, “This strategic move is in response to the critical need for increased capabilities and skills development in the manufacturing and production sectors, although services translate well to a wide range of business sectors.”

The initial curriculum at the RAMS Center includes Maintenance and Reliability for Managers, a 4-Part Series; Maintenance Planning and Scheduling; Materials Management; Preventive and Predictive Maintenance Development; Total Productive Maintenance; along with the opportunity for customer-defined training development.

The RAMS Center at UNF will provide clients the opportunity for employee development and services beyond education in operations, maintenance, reliability, and business process re-engineering.
